"I needed to take a moment to express my gratitude to you for referring me to the landman, Buddy Cotten. What he was able to negotiate for my family still boggles the mind. I am not overstating it when I say that he is a true genius with regards to mineral rights negotiation. I can't thank you enough for the time you took to recommend him to us. My family has been truly blessed to have him in our lives, and I have you to thank."

"Buddy, to be polite, lack of knowledge is a terrible thing. I can attest to Buddy Cotton's sincerity and tireless effort to help educate mineral owners as to the very complex nature of mineral leasing with today's fast changing technologies and rules. I know Buddy personally and we have served together as Board Members of a Royalty Owner's Association whose purpose is to educate mineral and royalty owners and to monitor legislation activities at both the State and Federal levels for bills that may harm the Industry and mineral owners in particular. I manage the minerals for our extended Famly's interests and have learned a great deal of detail information on mineral leasing from Buddy. Thanks Buddy for sharing your decades of experience with us in the Association as well as this excellent Forum."

"Katy, it is also a good to have someone look at your lease offers to make sure your best interests are represented. I used Buddy Cotten and feel he is extremely good at what he does and the small cost will save you big bucks in the end. Lease offers will lean towards the oil companies and you need to make sure it gets done in a way that you don't end up with hidden costs that would take away from what you deserve."

You are right-on and that's that.
And a general comment to the forum: Most landmen operate under a code of ethics which demand the landman to be fair and honest in his/her dealings with not just his/her client, but with the people with whom he/she deals. I find that landmen want to be helpful and assist the public with complicated oil and gas questions and this forum is a great place for oil and gas professionals and mineral owners to discuss issues. I just wish I had more time to spend on this site, but, my experience and focus my entire 31 year career has been on Texas titles and RRC rules. Many of the questions are from other states and the "rules of the game" in other states can vary widely from Texas rules.
You are very generous with your time and your knowledge on this forum.
To Brent: If Buddy Cotten explains something, you can take it to the bank.

"I bought copies of Buddy Cotton's lease addendum's and am way, way more than pleased and Impressed! If a mineral owner learns one little thing or get's only one lease addendum or wording it is worth far more than the cost."

"Buddy Cotten has more integrity than anyone I've ever met, other than my Dad. He is honest to a fault and bends over backwards to help people, sometimes without even charging them. He is extremely generous and if you met him without knowing who he was you would, I'm sure, like him."

"I am a new member to the Mineral Rights Forum and have viewed, most favorably, your response to various discussions in extremely sensative and critical matters affecting both landowners and exploration companies alike. I have been employed in in the field of petroleum and mineral land management for about 26 years, and I believe that your contributions, through a vast and varied knowledge of our industry, is a value added benefit to the many participants in this network who are forming opinions and seeking solutions in an ever-changing and ever-more-informed society, involving landowner/company negotiations and operations. This is doing the "good work" that needs to be done. You are justly commended for Excellence. Sorry, there's no gift attached.lol."
